Lura

Maria de Lurdes Assunção Pina, who is known professionally simply as Lura, is a singer and musician. Born in Lisbon, Portugal to parents who come from a small island off the coast of Western Africa called Cape Verde, Lura was heavily influenced by her mother and father's culture and as a result she began making music in the traditional Cape Verdean style. After playing a number of shows early on in her career, Lura would eventually enter the studio to record her well-received 1996 debut album, Nha Vida.
