Already having made his mark on the music world as a member of popular British synthpop group The Thompson Twins, Tom Bailey has now turned his attention to electronic genres such as chill out and dub with his International Observer project. The New Zealand native crafts dreamy downtempo tracks that utilize both live and electronic instrumentation usually centered around laid-back dub grooves and ambient flourishes. On its 2009 album, Felt, International Observer took on the oft-covered folk standard, "House of the Rising Sun," reinventing it as a cleverly unrecognizable eight-minute exercise in modern dub experimentation.
