Brooklyn-based five-piece Quiet Lights channel early 1990s shoegaze with heavily distorted guitars and experimental arrangements, but include hazy female vocals that stem from the dream pop tradition. The result is a lovely contrast between the gritty and ethereal, bringing to mind the work of fellow New Yorkers Blonde Redhead. While the band only formed in 2009, it has already managed to amass a good deal of positive press from publications across the US that are enthralled by Quiet Lights' lush stylings.
