Somewhat of a supergroup, Saint Alvia--formerly The Saint Alvia Cartel--boasts members of seminal Canadian hardcore bands. However, the group softens the sound of its previous bands to something more akin to ska-tinged punk rock that occasionally ventures into pop punk and roots rock territory. The Ontario, Canada-based six-piece formed in 2005 and immediately signed to Stomp Records, releasing its debut album two years later to acclaim from the alternative rock/punk community. While Saint Alvia has suffered a few lineup changes and slowed its pace for a few years, the band announced another album would be released in 2012 and that it would perform at many prominent Canadian music festivals in the meantime.
