By Divine Right is a power pop trio that's led by singer/songwriter and guitarist Jose Miguel Contreras. Based in Toronto, Contreras founded the outfit in 1989 along with bassist Liz Teear and guitarist Steven Berman. Although the band has undergone a series of lineup changes since then, By Divine Right remains a consistent source for pop-tinted indie rock, from its 1992 debut album Buffet of the Living Dead, to 2013's Organized Accidents.
