Though he works within the often cold and sterile world of electronic production, Jimmy Tamborello (aka Dntel) creates tracks that are bathed in warm tones and melancholic nostalgia. Releasing demos since the mid-1990s, it wasn't until 2003, when he collaborated with Death Cab For Cutie's Ben Gibbard in The Postal Service, that Tamborello's talents as a producer would take center stage. His glitchy electropop style is uniquely identifiable in its use of 8-bit tones, video game squeals, hazy synths and an overall charming sense of recapturing the bittersweet feelings of growing up. Since the surprise hit that was The Postal Service's Give Up, Tamborello has enjoyed his more prominent status with a series of solo releases, remixes and collaborations with the likes of Connor Oberst, Jenny Lewis and Grizzly Bear.
