Impossible to pigeonhole, Los Angeles-based Hrishikesh Hirway, primary writer and musician for The One AM Radio, has his hand in a rather disparate group of genres. The Yale graduate is just as likely to compose a raw, emotive folk ballad a la Elliott Smith, as an ambient remix of electronic tracks by the likes of Daedelus and Baths. First beginning his One AM Radio project in 2005, Hirway eventually recruited a few friends to perform with him and provide instrumentals on recordings, but Hirway still remained at the helm of the band, incorporating everything from jangle pop to trip-hop to post-rock in his musical mélange.
