Jeff Loomis is a musician and songwriter from Menasha, Wisconsin who is best known as the lead guitarist for the progressive metal band Nevermore. Despite having a stunted early solo career and a missed opportunity to join Megadeth as its lead guitarist, Loomis' decision to join Nevermore in 1991 would establish him as one of the more original and outstanding progressive metal guitarists in the history of the genre. Towards the end of his nearly two decades-long run with Nevermore as its lead guitarist, Jeff Loomis embarked upon a highly successful solo career in 2005, and as evidenced by his debut album Zero Order Phase in 2008, Loomis' run as one of metal's leading guitarists is far from over.
