This six-piece band was formed in 2005 and has quickly become one of New Zealand's most vibrant musical acts. In an effort to push the boundaries of music to new and uncharted territory, An Emerald City utilizes several Eastern traditional instruments that few Westerners are familiar with. In addition to experimenting with instrumentation, the group's debut album was recorded in a cave, so that the acoustics could be heard in a new way. All in all, sound, to An Emerald City, is something that can and should be explored and pushed to its limit.
