Ryan Lott is an artist from New York City who creates experimental electronic music under the name Son Lux. Though he made a living composing music for commercials during the better portion of the late 2000s and early 2010s, he dropped his debut album At War with Walls & Mazes, in 2008, exposing his dark, hip-hop and indie rock-infused ambient music to a broader audience for the first time. As he continued to release his own material, he joined forces with Serengeti and Sufjan Stevens and introduced the project S / S / S with its debut album, Beak & Claw, in 2012. Son Lux signed with Joyful Noise Recordings in 2013 and released his first record with the imprint Lanterns, in 2013, after already having amassed a dedicated international following.
