Keyboardist Zac Traeger and drummer Shmu are the experimental/noise rock duo Zorch. Based in Austin, the pair met in Boston in 2009 and began recording improvised mixtapes that would eventually lay the ground work for Zorch. In addition to their instruments of choice, Traeger and Shmu share vocals and both play the omnichord, resulting in a highly experimental collaboration that ranges from pop to tribal music. Zorch's raucous live shows and audience interaction fit in nicely with other avant-garde acts in Austin's DIY music scene, but unexpected endeavors such as a Rod Stewart cover project keep the duo's music refreshing.
