At first John Spillane was drawn to rock music. Who could blame him, though. Growing up in Ireland in the '60s there was nothing more original or rebellious than rock music. Spillane was so interested in music that he decided to model a life around it. While at first he started to write tunes modeled around a classic rock-song structure, he quickly found out that he was not being true to himself or his roots by playing this style of music. After spending some time soul searching, Spillane returned to crafting songs. Only this time he began to write mellow folk songs. He's been chugging away ever since and his reputation continues to grow as more people take a liking to new, folk friendly, approach to songwriting.
