After vocalist Damien Rice left the band Juniper to pursue a solo career in 1999, the rest of the band regrouped to form Bell X1, a four-piece outfit that creates smooth new wave-inspired indie rock music. Bell X1's debut album Neither Am I, was released in 2000, but despite featuring several songs co-written by Rice the record was never released outside of Ireland. Finally pushing through with its fusion of electronic and rock music paired with a pop sensibility, the band released 2003's Music in Mouth and earned critical acclaim for its warm sound. Bell X1 has since released a string of studio albums, including 2011's Bloodless Coup, that gained popularity in its home country as well as around the UK and US.
