Hailing from Brooklyn, New York, Sleigh Bells is an electronic noise rock and dance punk duo composed of Derek E. Miller and Alexis Krauss. Miller, a former member of hardcore band Poison the Well, and Alexis Krauss of teen pop group Rubyblue, joined forces in 2009 and released the Sleigh Bells EP, immediately capturing the attention of critics and fans alike with its mix of synthpop and hard rock guitar. By the time the duo released its debut album, Treats, in 2010, it had garnered serious attention and began playing a series of prominent music festivals from around the world including Coachella, Primavera Sound and Pitchfork Music Festival. Sleigh Bells' antagonistic synth lines, bombastic drum samples, distorted vocals and crunchy guitar riffs offer something for both electronic and rock fans, and the band has managed to stay in the realm of electronic dance punk without veering into the easily digestible electropop sound, as demonstrated on its punchy 2012 album, Reign of Terror.
