As a musician, Mick Taylor played an extremely involved role in the evolution of British rock in the 60s and its impact on the worldwide listening public. In 1965, when Taylor was just 16, he started playing with the prolific blues rock band John Mayall's Bluesbreakers and in 1969 he replaced Brian Jones in the Rolling Stones. During his time with the Stones, Taylor helped propel the band to become one of the biggest bands in the world and his playing undoubtedly helped direct the sonic path of the band. Though he left the group in 1974, Taylor has gone on to have a successful career making distinctive blues rock and he has even collaborated with musical luminaries like Bob Dylan, Jack Bruce and Mike Oldfield.
