Twin sisters Alejandra and Claudia Deheza of the band On! Air! Library! met Benjamin Curtis of Secret Machines and Tripping Daisy when they were all touring with Interpol. The three hit it off musically and began a side project entitled School of Seven Bells, named for a mythical pickpocket training academy in South America. With its ethereal dreampop bordering on shoegaze, but with a hefty dose of dance-synth, the trio decided to make School of Seven Bells its primary project and left all others band to tour with School of Seven Bells full time. Opening for big acts like Blonde Redhead, Prefuse 73 and Bat for Lashes, the band has garnered a good deal of hype and respect.
