The Ponys

Chicago based four-piece The Ponys was conceived in 2001 by Jered Gummere and his girlfriend Melissa Elias. Initially creating lo-fi post punk, the band toured exhaustively and was signed to In the Red Records. Despite many band members desire to quit, simply due to over-exhaustion, the group went back into the studio and recorded a slightly cleaner, more produced album that still retained its post punk roots and subsequently grabbed the attention of Matador Records, which signed the band in 2005. After recovering from over-touring, the band released a few EPs and continues to tour at a more moderate pace.
