Laura Veirs

Portland via Colorado based singer/songwriter Laura Veirs began her career in a slightly different vein, studying geology and Mandarin while fronting an all girl punk band. Her tastes changed slightly after graduating from college, however, and Veirs started writing old-style folk songs. After releasing a couple albums, the singer grabbed the attention of highly respected record label Nonesuch and since then Veirs has been consistently praised by the New York Times and Washington Post, making both newspapers' year end critics lists every time she releases an album.
