Vampire Weekend

Vampire Weekend is a New York City-based band whose members met while attending Columbia University. With a penchant for African rhythms and catchy guitar arrangements, the four-piece outfit makes a unique style of music that nods to both artistic new wave acts like the Talking Heads as well as to more polished contemporary pop. The group released its eponymous debut album in 2008 to the cheers of several critics, who called the album one of the more innovative LPs of the past decade. Though some jeer at the band for its haughty aesthetic, Vampire Weekend's witty, creatively arranged music has attracted a wide swath of fans who embrace the group's erudite sound.
