The ‘Spurs from White Hart Lane’ have a long and storied existence among London’s football clubs. The team was established in 1882 as Hotspur FC after legendary and eccentric owner Harry Hotspur. Harry also trained fighting cockerels that used spurs, thereby creating the team logo as well. Tottenham plays its matches at White Hart Lane Stadium, where fans will see the trademark ‘Blue Cockerel’ spread around the approximately 36,000 seats. The club has had plenty of success since its inception, winning the Football League’s First Division in 1951 and 1961, the prestigious UEFA Cup during its inaugural season (1974) and once again ten years later. In fact, the Spurs have won so many trophies, the only other team that has garnered more is powerhouse, Manchester United.
