Founded in 1902, the team plays in the Primera Division of the Liga Nacional de Fútbol Profesional, also known as La Liga, and won its first championship in 1932, only a few years after the Spanish football league system was established. Along from its domestic record, Real Madrid also holds the most number of UEFA Champions League wins. Real Madrid has several long-standing rivalries, though none as celebrated as the team's rivalry with FC Barcelona. In addition to the two clubs being by far the most dominant in the national league, Real Madrid and FC Barcelona represent the two rival regions of Spain, Castile and Catalonia, so much so that the game between the two teams, referred to as El Clásico, represents the cultural and political tensions between the regions for the dedicated following of both teams.
