Los Angeles via Fort Collins, CO quartet Black Apples creates surf-psych that sounds like it came from a garage sometime in the 1960s. The band dresses like it came from a rock concert sometime in the 1970s, complete with fringe, headbands and peace-themed t-shirts. While the band is a throwback to another era (or two), it still incorporates enough modern elements to create something new, not just a knock-off of something from your parents' record collection. Existing in relative obscurity since its formation in 2006, the band has slowly grabbed the attention of music connoisseurs and is likely to make it big any day now.
