The Scottish post-progressive rock band North Atlantic Oscillation named itself after the a fluctuating change in atmospheric pressure that exists above the Atlantic Ocean. While it might seem strange, at first, to name a band after a section of airflow patterns, after listening to the group's music for an extended period of time, the name starts to make sense. The band's music changes, flows and is blown in directions that few other bands venture towards. Formed in 2005, the band is comprised of three extremely talented musicians and by dabbling in elements of electronic composition, the group is making a name for itself with a unique sound that blends virtuosic instrumentation with computerized pre-programmed drum accompaniments and lazer-like analog-synth noises.
