Originally conceived in 2007 by Honus Honus, of the always bizarre blues-pop band Man Man, and Nick Diamonds, of the seminal indie group Islands, Mister Heavenly became a reality in January of 2010. After collaborating on what the duo calls "doom-wop" songs--or an amalgamation of doo-wop and doomed love songs--the group recruited another indie darling, Joe Plummer of Modest Mouse. The trio released tracks on its MySpace over the following summer, without the intention of ever creating an official album. However, the band's mindset changed in the fall when Sub Pop offered Mister Heavenly a record deal. As if the group's indie cred wasn't high enough, indie flick star Michael Sera joined the band as bassist, a surprise last-minute decision before the tour. Quite the buzz band, Mister Heavenly is set to release a full-length album in early 2011 and embark on another tour immediately following.
