The Donkeys is a country-influenced rock group from San Diego. It's fitting that the group comes from the sunny skies and beaches of the West Coast, as a lot of its sound recalls the classic vibes of the "California sound" from the 1970s. Some of those groups, like the Grateful Dead and the Flying Burrito Brothers, clearly have made an impact on the Donkeys sense of laid-back songwriting. But the group also mixes in some modern touches along with a retro-minded focus which makes the band's songs accessible to those not simply looking to satisfy a nostalgic kick. Tracks like "Dolphin Center" from the band's 2008 album, Living on the Other Side, showcase the Donkeys' affinity for American rock traditions and blue-collar harmonies.
