German musician Joachim Witt began his career as the singer-guitarist of the band Duesenberg, before leaving to pursue a solo career in 1979. His stardom saw a meteoric rise throughout the 1980s and made him one of the biggest names in the Neue Deutsche Welle scene alongside the likes of Falco and Nena. After a brief lull in activity, he made a strong comeback with the hit single "Die Flut" with singer Peter Heppner. His albums Bayreuth 1 and Bayreuth 2 were well-received across Germany and Austria. He continued working on independent projects and collaborations steadily, but his next album DOM came out in 2012 - almost seven years after his last venture Bayreuth 3 in 2006.
