DJ Hype

London's DJ Hype is a well-known drum & bass producer whose Real Playaz record label is an influential bastion of drum & bass in London, as well as abroad. DJ Hype's music, like a lot of jungle and early drum & bass, samples dub reggae and dancehall vocalists. In fact, many drum & bass producers tour with an MC or hypeman in the style of early Jamaican soundsystem MCs. Other features of Hype's drum & bass style are growling, or squelchy basslines that act as a kind of maligned melody to drum & bass tracks.
