When B.B. King was 12 years old he managed to buy his first guitar for $15. Spending warm afternoons on his family's plantation in Itta Bina, Mississippi no doubt helped prepare the young guitarist for a life filled with pioneering instrumental techniques and collaborating with innovative musicians. Getting his first break in 1956 with a recording contract, King managed to lay down his six string prowess and impress nearly everyone that listened to the recording. Over the decades, King managed to carve a reputation for himself as one of the most talented guitarists, whose sophisticated style of soloing has been imitated by nearly every other blues musician to have ever picked up a guitar.
