Detroit five-piece Prussia began making music together on the first day of 2007 - a New Years resolution of sorts. The band's use of unusual sound blips, sparse African drum beats and lo-fi vocals that croon about taboo subjects places Prussia in the experimental category, but the group also incorporates enough pop melodies and hooks to fall squarely into the indie rock genre. While Prussia certainly has a characteristic sound, it also likes to throw its listeners for a loop by releasing remix albums full of sparkling electropop versions of its songs, proclaiming itself as a band that refuses to stick to one musical style or follow expectations.
