Django Django is a musical project initially forged by vocalist/guitarist Vinny Neff and drummer Dave Maclean, two friends who met at the Edinburgh College of Art. The collaboration, which began in 2008, yielded a 7" record in early 2009 that drew some critical interest for its loose and psychedelic approach. Comparisons were made to popular UK folk psychedelic rockers, the Beta Band--a similarity even more apparent by the fact that Maclean is the younger brother of the Beta's keyboard player, John Maclean. Elements of surf, folk-electronica, indie rock and psych-pop come together to form an experimental but accessible sound to their music. Since its inception, the band has expanded to incorporate bassist Jimmy Dixon, and Tommy Grace, a keyboardist and graphic designer who creates all of the group's artwork.
