Semko Fontaine Taylor is a collaboration between veteran Canadian folk performers Jay Semko, Kim Fontaine and David Taylor. Characterized by slow, gentle folk built around the mostly acoustic sounds of guitar, bass and piano, the group isn't so much interested in modern spins on folk music as it is in upholding its sparse, storytelling tradition. While performing live, Semko Fontaine Taylor will often incorporate addition elements, such as pedal steel guitar and light drumming. Overall, however, the strength of the trio's music rests within its three core members. Semko Fontaine Taylor's vintage-minded songwriting, tasteful arrangements and vocal harmonies have made it one of Canada's up-and-coming folk projects. The group's debut LP, Heartaches and Numbers, was released in 2010.
