Allston, Massachusetts-based trio Young Adults began creating what it calls "ambient punk" in 2009. Blending densely layered guitar work, thick distortion, reverb-heavy vocals, and a steady rhythm that ties everything together, Young Adults produces somewhat of a modern version of shoegaze-meets-punk, what is often termed as shitgaze. Because of its ability to meld these genres, Young Adults has garnered a diverse group of fans that multiplied with the release of its debut LP Black Hole in 2010.
