Ninjasonik is an alternative hip-hop duo based out of the musical hotbed of Brooklyn, New York. Part of the new hipster-friendly indie rap movement that features artists such as Spank Rock and Das Racist, the group isn't so much interested in upholding hip-hop's traditions and ideals as it is injecting it with any of number characteristics pulled from other genres to create a uniquely irreverent sound. The rough edges of harsh punk rock, modern electro and rap sub-genres such as crunk all find their way into Ninjasonik's songs, which are coupled with self-consciously ironic and satirical raps about drugs, drinking and partying. The winking, half-serious/half-joking approach the group takes won't likely appeal to hip-hop purists, but fans of alternative and somewhat kitschy forms of the genre will probably like what they hear.
