Status Quo has been rocking hard since 1967. A staple in the tradition of British rock music, Status Quo is a rock band that formed in 1967 London during the heyday of rock 'n roll and the rise of punk, hard rock and glam rock. With a sound that has been characterized as boogie rock, the band melded together the core elements of psychedelic rock, hard rock and blues rock on early tracks like "Pictures of Matchstick Men," but would ultimately rise to fame for its heavier, progressive blues-inspired sound. Beginning with 1972's Piledriver, the band's first release for the Vertigo label, Status Quo ushered in its first taste of success with a raw sound now immortalized by hit songs like "Rockin' All Over the World" and "Whatever You Want." The band would go on to solidify a spot for itself in music history by recording the most chart hits in the UK of any other band. Despite the standard rock and roll turbulence of changes in lineup, record labels and complicated personal lives, Status Quo has managed to stay together, continues to add onto its already staggering discography, and performs for loyal fans everywhere.
