English singer-songwriter Robyn Hitchcock is an unsung hero of Britain's music history. Coming to recognition in the 1970s as a member of the band Soft Boys, Hitchcock made a name for himself as an eccentric songwriter, writing on subjects like death and eating. A documentary on Hitchcock's legacy debuted in 2007 at the Sundance Festival and is titled, Robyn Hitchcock: Sex, Food, Death...and Insects. Largely heralded as an underground artist, Hitchcock has amassed an unusual and extremely loyal following that helped Hitchcock maintain a sturdy platform of live performances, album releases and even film appearances. Oscar-winning director Jonathan Demme, and music enthusiast, has featured Hitchcock as a performer and a director in Demme films like The Manchurian Candidate and Rachel Getting Married.
