Delfeayo Marsalis is a jazz trombonist and record producer from New Orleans, Louisiana who is a member of the famed Marsalis family of jazz musicians. Like his brothers Wynton on the trumpet and Branford on the saxophone, Delfeayo Marsalis is considered to be one of America's greatest contemporary masters of jazz on his instrument, the trombone. However, despite Marsalis' tremendous instrumental skills, he rarely recorded his own music and preferred to produce the records of others, and almost single-handedly contributed to the shift in jazz recording from rock and roll-like production to a more acoustic one that focuses on the sound and timbre of the instruments.
