Opened in 1964, the ÖVB-Arena (formerly Bremen Arena, Stadthalle Bremen or AWD Dome) is one of the most impressive buildings in the area. The pillars remind you of a ship's bow and gives the hall a distinctive look. The interior, expanded several times over the years, is comprised of several halls with space for up to 20,000 people. Trade fairs, exhibitions, sporting events and concerts all take place here and in the adjoining Congress center and Festival Hall. On any given night you might find a heavy metal festival or the state symphony, so just check out their website to see whats on. The Arena can be reached on foot from the north entrance of the main station.
