The Lancaster Grand Theater dates back to the late 18th century and is one of the oldest theaters of UK. What began as "The Theater, Lancaster" in 1782 was renamed "The Athaneum" in 1884 and eventually "The Grand Theater" in 1908. The two-storey theater in the heart of Lancaster is one of the premiere cultural venues of the city. The Victorian building of the theater has retained its charm and grandeur over the centuries. The plays and acts staged have been reminiscent of the times and have captivated audiences from all over the country. Today, besides dramatics, it also acts a venue for music, dance and other cultural events.
