Hulen was a cave shelter which was converted to a club for students in the 1960's. The faculty was afraid that the students might follow the American route at the time which was the revolution of the students against the government, thus they started this club for the students. The main idea was to keep them busy so that in their free time they do not waste on revolutionary ideas but instead blend into the local performance arts. The Hulen after awhile became the cultural hub for students in Bergen. Musicians from all over came to perform here and in no time it was a huge success.
