Nestled in the county of Hordaland, the scenic city of Bergen sits pretty, surrounded by seven mountains, earning the nickname City of Seven Mountains. If this wasn't enough, the city is flanked by an equal number of fjords, making it ideal for nature enthusiasts. The history of this city can be traced back the 11th Century, when it was founded by the emperor, Olav Kyrre, and is known for its rich cultural heritage that is well preserved by the likes of the prestigious West Norway Museum of Decorative Art, Bryggens Museum and the Hanseatic Museum and Schøtstuene. The most important landmark of the city is its Wharf or Bryggen, which was declared as a heritage site by UNESCO in the year 1979. Other notable sights include the Bergenhus Fortress, Rosenkrantz Tower, Damsgård Manor and the Fantoft Stave Church.
