Ingolstadt is home to one of the most significant Gothic secular buildings of the 15th Century, the New Castle. Built by the Wittelsbach dynasty, the splendid structure is an iconic landmark of the city. Now, the ivory-hued, gabled castle houses the splendid Bavarian Army Museum, workshops and a few restaurants, which is the perfect way to unwind after a long day of exploring the historic castle. Visitors can marvel at the 17 canons displayed in the courtyard, for they are an excellent example of early modern weaponry. A must visit while in Ingolstadt, the New Castle is a structure that reflects the city's royal legacy.
