TOURIST ATTRACTIONS & SIGHTSEEING, PRACTICAL INFORMATION
Set along the banks of the beautiful free-flowing Duck River that is an anglers paradise replete with exotic species of mussels and fish, the city of Columbia claims to be the "Mule Capital of the World". An ode to the mules is paid every year on April Fools Day, which attracts curious visitors to the town. Incorporated in 1817, this was a prosperous agricultural town which had its share of heritage attractions, ancestral homes and plantations. Columbia came into the limelight once again in 2009 when Hannah Montana was filmed here. For history buffs, the city is home to the President James K. Polk Home & Museum, which explore the life of the 11th President of the United States.
