Stratford Festival Theatre

Originating as a simple tent over a wooden stage in the early 1950s, the Stratford Shakespeare Festival's Festival Theatre's thrust design was one that, at the time of its creation, had hardly been in use for centuries and has influenced the construction of countless theaters ever since. Even though it's now housed in an actual building, the Festival Theatre retains the hand-crafted wooden aesthetic of its rustic, partially outdoor origins. The Stratford Shakespeare Festival itself has been one of the premiere theater festivals in North America for over half a century with crowds from across the globe flocking to see some of the stage's most talented actors in performances of not only the Shakespeare works that give the festival it's name, but of a diverse array of modern and classical works as well.
