Domkirkeplassen 1, Bergen, 5003
Built in honor of Norway's beloved King St. Olav, the Bergen Domkirke, or Bergen Cathedral, has remained loyal to its dedication since the 12th Century. According to the Sverre Saga, King Sverre and his army utilized the cathedral as a refuge when they were attacked by the Birkebeiners nearly 900 years ago, earning it a respectable place in Norse folklore. The church has survived numerous fires and battles through the years but has admirably been able to maintain its original structure and authenticity; most notably its main tower that still shows the cannonball strike that occurred during Battle of Vågen.
