Located over the Wear river, the Prebends Bridge is a historic stone arch bridge dating back to the late 18th Century. A Grade I listed heritage structure, the bridge is mostly used by pedestrians and was constructed to replace a former footbridge which was swept away by a flood in 1771. A plaque inscribed with words by Sir Walter Scott on Durham can be seen on the bridge.
