Pigalle is an alternative rock/French folk band from Paris that is one of the many bands led by famed French musician and actor Francois Hadji-Lazaro. The band formed in 1982 and would perform independently throughout France before taking a hiatus in 1998 for nearly a decade. Pigalle is perhaps best known for its deft handling of alternative rock infused with the popular stylings of French chanson and was celebrated as one of Hadji-Lazaro's better musical achievements as a band leader. Since reforming in 2007, Pigalle released its first album of the millennium Des Espoirs (The Hopefuls), which was celebrated by fans and critics as a deft synthesis of Hadji-Lazaro's developed solo work with that of the band's earlier albums released over a decade earlier.
