Equally devoted to creating remixes and writing his own material, Los Angeles-via-Brooklyn producer Jason Drake assumed the Cassettes Won't Listen moniker in 2004. Since then he has built a name for himself through his work for El-P, Asobi Seksu, Pavement and others, along with his fusion of electrosynth, chip tune and indie rock demonstrated in his original material. Very much influenced by his locale, Drake's music initially presented a dark, gritty nature during his New York days, but since his move to LA, it has adopted a sunnier aesthetic. Regardless of the overall tone Cassettes Won't Listen leans toward, Drake's music has prompted much critical acclaim and a solid fan base.
