Engine was a prominent American progressive metal band formed in the late 1990s. Fronted by Ray Alder, renowned for his role in Fates Warning, the band boasted an impressive lineup featuring former Agent Steel guitarist Bernie Versailles, Armored Saint bassist Joey Vera, and Face to Face drummer Pete Parada. Their self-titled debut album, released in September 1999, showcased their exceptional musicianship, blending intricate melodies with heavy riffs. With critical acclaim, Engine solidified their position in the progressive metal scene. In May 2002, they released their follow-up album, "Superholic," further showcasing their growth and musical prowess. Although their time together was relatively short, Engine left a lasting impact on the genre, with their music resonating with fans of complex and emotionally-driven metal. While the band eventually disbanded, their influential legacy continues to be cherished by progressive metal enthusiasts.
