Biz Markie is a rapper, beat-boxer and DJ from New York who is probably best known for his widely popular 1989 single "Just a Friend." He began his career as a well respected beat-boxer and rapper in the early 1980, before releasing his debut LP, Goin' Off, in 1988. Though Markie has experienced a number of ups and downs in his professional career, he has established himself as a recognizable face of the American hip-hop community.
