Ice-T is a rapper and actor and who is renowned as a pioneer of gangsta rap and rap rock. Packed with explicit, violent anti-authoritarian themes, his 1987 debut, Rhyme Pays, was the first record to feature the "Parental Advisory" sticker. Ice-T continued to push the burgeoning musical movement into the 1990s, most notably on his fourth studio album, OG: Original Gangster, a seminal rap album that confronted deeply rooted political issues of race and police brutality. The stand-out track "Cop Killer," caused such controversy that Ice-T's label, Warner Bros. Records, postponed his follow-up record out of fear and eventually released the rapper from his contract upon his request. As he continues to foster rap through his solo work and ventures with his crossover thrash metal band Body Count, Ice-T has submerged himself into various facets of entertainment, from his own imprint Rhyme $yndicate Records to acting, radio and his own reality television show.
